West End Lofts is designed in a way that will help artists grow and prosper at their profession.
The Project is designed as a community setting, which will foster a strong sense of community. This design will capitalize on the already thriving artist community in the City of Beacon.
The artist units will start at $715.00 per month for a one bedroom and $855.00 for a two bedroom. The-non artists units will start at $1,099.00 per month for a one bedroom and $1,315.00 for a two bedroom.
West End Lofts provides numerous amenities. In Addition to the certification of the building by LEED, other amenities include on-site laundry, on-site superintendent, on-site management office and space for the resident artist to display their art.
There will be three separate common rooms, the first will be a community room that will have computers for common use. The remaining common rooms will be (Studio A), specifically designed as performance practice space and (Studio B), as a shared Artist Space.
Artist – An individual who practices one of the fine, design, graphic, musical, culinary, literary, computer or performing arts; or an individual whose profession relies on the application of the above-mentioned skills to produce a unique creative product; i.e., an architect, craftsperson, teacher of art, music, dance, chef, photographer, etc. All these creative products are defined as “art”.
The Artist Certification Committee meets regularly to review the following information that is submitted by the applicant (the applicant is not expected to attend the meeting):
- Application Form (refer to website for downloadable form).
- An explanation of how the loft will be used to produce your creative product. Include your current plans and your one-to-five-year goals for producing your “art” and exhibiting/presenting/selling it to the public. Include your plans, if any, to become involved in the Beacon artist community.
- References attesting to your artistic background and current work (letters must be signed with contact information provided).
- Resume identifying artistic education and work experiences (with dates) that demonstrate your past and current involvement in an artistic field.
- Any other documentation (such as a list of exhibits, galleries, juried shows, performances, professional reviews, client lists and commissions, etc.) that supports your qualifications in your artistic field.
If potentially hazardous materials or machinery will be used in the loft, or if sound greater than ambient noise levels will be created, the applicant must demonstrate how neighbors and the public will not be adversely affected. If legitimate complaints are received, the West End Lofts reserves the right to
rescind the Artist Certification.
Once you are certified, you may rent an art loft at Wests End Lofts.
